The Lotus Bausch & Lomb Institute of Optometry is a unit of the Lotus Vision Research Trust, a non-profit charitable trust formed with the sole purpose of carrying out several works benefitting the society and eye care segment at large. The Trust initially aimed its formation to provide counselling and proper guidance to eye patients. However, soon the Trust spread its wings across various aspects of service to society and humanity.

  • The Trust has been involved deeply in conducting various clinical research projects that are aimed to contribute and bring progress in medical science, the field of Ophthalmology, and eye care, in particular.
  • The eye bank project set up by the Trust has been received by the society at large as a great initiative in creating awareness for eye donation and the willingness to become donors.
  • The Trust Strives to spread the importance of eye care in society with its awareness programmes and various camps.

Starting an Optometry Institute was born out of this passion that the Lotus Vision Research Trust has towards providing relentless service in Eye care. The array of services that the trust provides ranges from taking eye care to the rural areas through eye camps, providing free cataract surgery to the needy, and many awareness programmes.

The Trust was formed in 1993 and aimed to work towards ‘Mission for Perfect Vision’ through its relentless and humanitarian services. The institute was integrated into the Trust to create a platform for the students to be a part of this noble task of serving society and instilling the spirit of service in them. The Trust, The management, and the institute understand the significance of ‘Service to Society.’ They believe that every student of LBLIO should also represent this spirit.
